Our History

The Kent Autistic Community Trust was started in 1985 by the parents of children on the autism spectrum and in 1989, we changed our name to The Kent Autistic Trust.

We opened our first small, six bedded living service and our first community based day vocational centre in Medway in September 1989 and have continued to expand over the years, so that we now provide supported living accommodation and day vocational services for over 100 people across Medway and Kent.

The living accommodation we provide is either owned by or leased from Housing Associations and the people who live in them are tenants.

The Kent Autistic Trust provide this support with funding from Local Authority Social Services, Health Authorities, Direct Payments and Supporting People.
