KAT feature as one of The Best Care Homes inspected in Kent 2019!!



Recent article by Kent Live features The Kent Autistic Trust's Beaver Lane Residential Home, selected as one of the 7 homes rated 'the very best' in Kent in 2019 by CQC inspectors.


Inspectors score the homes for safety, efficiency, care, responsiveness and leadership .


When inspectors visited these 7 homes this year, they were deemed 'outstanding' overall.


Our Beaver Lane, residential care home provides personal care to five people with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorder aged 18 years and over.


It was inspected in July this year. The service was rated 'good' for safety and care.


But inspectors were blown away by its effectiveness, responsiveness and leadership - rating it 'outstanding' in these areas.


In the report they said: "Every staff member enjoyed working with people with autism.

"Every staff member demonstrated passion and commitment to providing the best possible care and opportunities for people to live life to the full.

"People had positive relationships with support staff that knew them well.

"People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.


"People were happy and smiling. The sounds and movements people made mirrored the descriptions of the 'happy' sounds and movements within their care records. Relatives were extremely happy with the service."
