New clothing label Born Anxious raising funds for The Kent Autistic Trust

Updated: May 22, 2019

Born Anxious is a homegrown clothing label with two objectives, to make the clothes as comfortable as possible, whilst also remaining planet friendly, and to hold important information that will aim to help not only the child, but also the caregiver as well when required.

Kellie Barker, owner of the brand said 'As an autism mum myself, I have thought about what could help me and other caregivers whilst trying to be as generic as possible within the designs, alongside giving those the opportunity to personalise their products as well'.

The aim is for Born Anxious to be a supporter of Autism and special needs, a clothing label that will explain if you are Autistic, have special needs or are supporting those who do. As well as supporting Autism and special needs, Born Anxious is pleased and proud to be official supporters of Kent Portage Service and The Kent Autistic Trust. The choice to keep our donations as local as possible was to be able to spread awareness within our little corner of the UK and to support each other in smaller circles and communities that will then help those to connect to the bigger ones.

Born Anxious is organic clothing with no labels, that is aiming to be earth positive and fairtrade. In replacement of removing the labels, we provide a recycled information postcard with each product, that holds the care instructions and information of who we support through donations from each purchase. In time, Born Anxious will be expanding the range and will remain organic, as we feel this is important for our children with difficulties surrounding skin irritations or sensory difficulties. The reason behind this is that clothes are something we most certainly struggle with, and these products aim to reduce that. We hope to be helpful, honest, approachable and are always welcome to your ideas that would help you and others.
